Job description – Costs Draftsman

We currently have opportunities for law costs draftsmen to join our expanding costs team. The job description includes:

• Drafting bills of costs and schedules for inter partes, solicitor-client, and legal aid matters
• Preparing and negotiating costs budgets (Precedent H)
• Assisting fee earners within law firms with costs strategy
• Preparing Budget Discussion Reports and supporting documents
• Attending detailed assessments and CCMCs where necessary
• Advising on law costs issues across a wide range of disputes

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in draftsman jobs, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage a varied caseload with minimal supervision. Strong communication and negotiation skills are essential, as you will regularly liaise with solicitors, barristers, and clients.

Job description – Costs Lawyer

We are also seeking qualified costs lawyers to support our growing workload. The role involves:

• Drafting, negotiating, and advising on complex legal costs claims
• Representing clients at detailed assessment hearings and CCMCs
• Supervising junior members of the costs team, including trainee costs draftsmen
• Providing training and guidance to fee earners within law firms
• Advising on strategic cost management and funding issues

The ideal candidate will be fully qualified with the Association of Costs Lawyers and have a strong track record in handling high-value litigation costs. Previous senior costs experience is an advantage, though applications are also welcome from newly qualified professionals seeking to develop their advocacy and leadership skills.
