What is the CCMS Login?

The Client and Cost Management System is an online system which can be used by fee earners, Costs Draftsmen, Costs Lawyers, as well as legal aid providers and other agents assigned to work on legal aid cases.

This system can be accessed using the CCMS login portal and is used for all aspects of legal aid work, including the submission of legal aid applications and paying bills.

What can be Submitted via CCMS?

The paper-based system of the Legal Aid Agency was dispensed with some years ago, and now all processes are dealt with electronically via the CCMS login and submission process.

With regards to costs, fixed costs claims can easily be prepared and submitted on a case-by-case basis, as part of which any claims for Family Advocacy Scheme (FAS) fees and disbursements can be made under any certificate.

Can Exceptional Costs Claims be Dealt with via CCMS Login?

The simple answer to this question is yes.  Whilst the CCMS login allows you to enter exceptional costs claims manually on a line by line basis, when submitting an interim/final claim for costs on a certificate, this can be a very tenuous process.  We would recommend that external third-party software is utilised to prepare any hourly rates exceptional costs claim, as it expedites the process significantly.

These claims can then be exported into a CCMS login friendly format of XML, and a test upload submitted via the ‘Pricing Upload’ option on CCMS.  This test upload allows any errors to be identified and rectified without suffering a mark against your LAA contract.  Once approved, a formal submission of the exceptional costs claim can be submitted, and the LAA usually process the costs claim within 1 – 2 weeks.
